Banana Nut Bread Sundae

Going Bananas

The Holiday Season has begun and the ovens will soon be bursting with goodies.  As one of the Founders of Gifts A GoGo, I have a passion that I would like to share with you.  I have been collecting very old cook books for years now.  One of my favorite recipes is a Banana Nut Bread that I found hand written between the pages of an old cook book.  This is a super simple recipe and would make a great gift or addition to any Holiday table.  Periodically, I will be sharing some of these recipes I have found throughout the years.  I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as my family has.  I don’t know who wrote this wonderful gem, but I am thankful I found it and happy to share with you.  The chocolate chips really make this loaf.  Top it off with vanilla ice cream and some caramel as pictured and you got yourself a slice of paradise.

  • ½ c. cooking oil
  • ½ tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 3 very ripe bananas
  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • ½ c. walnuts (optional)
  • ½ tsp. baking powder
  • ½ c. chocolate chips
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. milk

Mix together all ingredients in a large bowl and pour into an ungreased loaf pan.  Bake at 350 degrees for one hour.
