Did you know that Peter Cottontail first appeared in the children’s book Old Mother West Wind by Thornton Burgess back in 1910? That would make him over 100 years old. He even stared in his own television special Here Comes Peter Cottontail. The tradition is, Peter Cottontail aka The Easter Bunny brings baskets of colored eggs and candy to children the night before Easter. Sometimes he hides them in the house or garden. In my home growing up, he had a tendency to hide them very well. Usually, one sibling would have a melt down and need some help from Mom or Dad… only to find the basket in the oven. I would just sit back eating a few candy bars and think to myself… that’s one cool bunny!
