The Scone Biscuit Gift Basket

These Bacon Cheddar Scones were so wonderful; we barely had enough left for the photo shoot!  Very easy to make and would make a wonderful housewarming gift or simply just because.  Of course, you can always keep them for yourself and enjoy with a cup of morning coffee.

Bacon Cheddar Scones Recipe

  • 2 Cups All Purpose Flour
  • 4 tsp. Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp. Salt
  • 3/4 Cup Heavy Cream
  • 1 Stick Unsalted Butter Cold
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 Cup Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese
  • 1/4 Cup Finally Chopped Bacon – About three pieces

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Prepare bacon either in microwave or frying, chop fine.  Be sure to pat away excess grease and set aside.  In a large mixing bowl combine the dry ingredients; flour, baking powder and salt.  In another bowl mix together egg and heavy cream.  Cut the butter into small cubes and add to the dry ingredients, blend together with a fork until you get a granular consistency.   Add egg and heavy cream mixture to the dry ingredients along with cheddar cheese and bacon.  Mix together. Place dough on floured surface and blend well by folding several times.  (See illustrations below).  Mold into a rectangular shape about 1/4 inch thick.  Cut rectangle into three strips and then cut each strip into triangular shapes.  Place scones on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.  Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes until golden. Makes two dozen.
